The government will fix the maximum price for each level of internet service
After introducing 'one country one rate' broadband tariff at the consumer level, the government will fix the highest price at the business level. BTRC is taking this initiative to provide internet from house to house after the union.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the tariff plan with the participation of stakeholders at the BTRC conference room on Sunday.
According to the tariff plan, service providers can charge a maximum of Taka 500 to provide a minimum of 5 Mbps internet connection to all customers across the country. On the other hand, the internet price of 10 Mbps speed has been fixed at Taka . And 20 Mbps connection has been tied to a minimum of 1100 to 1200 Taka.

Speaking as the chief guest, the minister said the initiative was just the beginning of creating equality in access to the internet, adding that the maximum price structure for each level of internet service would be determined.
Addressing the stakeholders, he said, "With you, we will finally do what needs to be done for each level." Our goal is to bring home broadband internet.
Mustafa Jabbar commented that BTRC is implementing this right to protect the constitutional rights of the people.
"I think this broadband internet is an inherent and a constitutional right of every citizen," he said. The BTRC is working to create equality through the protection of these rights.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications also expressed the hope that the BTRC would solve the existing problems through a round-the-clock review, emphasizing the importance of coordination among the partners in the implementation of one rate.
"I hope you will enjoy more of the work that BTRC is doing in the future," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder highlighted his dedicated efforts to solve all the problems of internet traders.
At the beginning of the program, Brigadier General Md. Nasim Parvez, Director General of BTRC, highlighted the rationale and context of forming one country one rate through a documentary.
At the same time, he said, BTRC has emphasized on attracting foreign investment by eliminating the lack of coordination among ISPs at the local level as well as protecting the interests of marginal broadband internet customers.
At this time, BTCL is already providing internet service for everyone, said BTCL Managing Director Rafiqul Matin.
Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Md. Afzal Hossain and Vice Chairman of BTRC Subrata Kumar Maitra among others spoke on the occasion.
In his speech, ISPAB President Aminul Hakim called for fixing the tariffs of NTTN, IIG and other concerned institutions. He also called for strengthening the monitoring activities of BTRC for Quality of Service Monitor.
Moinul Haque Siddiqui, Chairman, Fiber at Home, welcomed the initiative of BTRC and called for further initiatives for market discipline.
In his speech, IIG representative Ahmed Junaid said that such an initiative of the government will increase the number of internet users in the country.

Muhiuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Engineering and Operations Department, Abu Syed Diljar Hussain, Commissioner of Legal and Licensing Department, AKM Shahiduzzaman, Commissioner of Spectrum Department, Md.
